About me

Hi! I’m Tuuli (translates to Wind in English) from Southern Finland. I’m a physiotherapist and health enthusiast who loves learning about the different ways how our way of life, nutrition and habits affect our overall health, including physical, psychological and social aspects. I’m also very passionate about nature and its effects on our well being, so respecting the nature around us and living in sync with it is very close to my heart.

I love trying out new things and challenging myself, so my hobbies and interests have changed a little over time. This includes running a marathon, biking 1700km through Finland to Norway, and learning to paint. I have also started to enjoy hiking more and more, since my boyfriend Arttu is very experienced in that, and has inspired me to join some of his adventures.
Anyway, the hobbies or habits that I have stuck with are handstanding and bodyweight training, singing and.. reading and learning about health and how to promote it. So, this blog is my way to challenge my self more on that realm. Hopefully I can also bring some valuable information or inspiration to you!

Movement, Stress, Nutrition, Natural living and more…

I believe that by simplifying our lifestyles, living closer to nature and focusing on core issues of health, we can live healthier and more meaningful and environmentally friendly life. And I guess that’s what most of us strive for. The way each of us executes this will look different, since one size does not fit all. But I think a lot can be modified in our lifestyles in a way, that still respects our differences.

What I mean by simplifying?
Our lives have become more and more hectic and it seems the more you do, more valuable you are as a person. Also many mundane tasks are nowadays done by a machine, which increases our productivity but, often also decreases our daily activity. Regarding nutrition, most food what is sold on stores is highly processed, lacking nutrients and including toxic ingredients and way too many calories. So by simplifying, I mean having more boring/down time, doing more low intensity activities and eating minimally processed, real foods.

Why closer to nature?
Short answer: decreases stress, improves mental health, increases activity.. to name a few. And it also makes you appreciate the beauty around you!

What are core issues of health?
In todays society, most of our health issues arise from lack of movement, stress, and unhealthy eating habits. Other issues to take into account are our use of social media and other entertainment technologies and increased loneliness. These are all interconnected, so changes in one thing affects usually all the others.

These topics are discussed more on my blog posts!

Goal of this website

I hope that this blog would be a source of inspiration and information, or at least evoke some thoughts about the topics, and about the fact how we live our lives nowadays. Cause it strongly seems that the current way isn’t doing us any good. And by that I mean growing numbers of obesity, noncommunicable diseases (such as cardiovascular diseases and cancer), mental health issues and environmental risk factors (air pollution and climate change). There is also lot of good happening, which should not be ignored, such as decline in maternal and child mortality, reduced tobacco use, progress in infectious diseases control and many healthcare innovations.
If we want to combat the many problems we face nowadays, to reduce the climate and healthcare burden, we need a cultural change, as with tobacco use. And since all the oceans start from smaller streams, I believe everyone of us can do something, change their own habits, share information and inspire others to do so! And that I aspire to do with this website.
